             Once, an antelope got trapped in a hunter's net. He tried as hard as he could, He could not free himself.               He started to panic and cry. A woodpecker heard the cry. She wanted to help the antelope. She flew to a nearby pond and asked the animals there, "Please come with me to help an antelope that is trapped." Only a tortoise was helpful. The woodpecker asked the tortoise to gnaw at the noose of the trap and flew to the village in search of the hunter's home.            The hunter was fast asleep. In the meantime, the tortoise gnawed away the noose and freed the antelope. The woodpecker was happy that she could help a fellow-creature. Moral: SELFLESS HELP IS SERVICE TO GOD !!! *** *** ***

                  There is a proverb, "Sail beyond seas to search for wealth." Three merchants had gone aboard a ship in search of wealth. But, misfortune had struck them. The ship they sailed in crashed in high waters. They were about to drown. A tortoise that swam there saw the pathetic state of the merchants and came to their help. "Sit on my back, gentlemen.                    I shall take you to the shore." The merchants were relieved. "Thank you, big tortoise. We shall never forget your help," they said in unison. The tortoise carried them on his back and started swimming to the shore. Halfway through, the merchants were feeling terribly hungry.  They could no longer bear the hunger. "I have to eat some food," each one started crying in a feeble voice. "If you are feeling so hungry, why not you eat me and live?" asked the tortoise.             Although animals of the same breed tend to be friends, sometimes there develops a dear friendship among animals of varied kinds. Once, a deer, a tortoise, a rabbit, and a crow became very close friends. They shared many things they could with one another. Life was very happy for the friends. There is a twist in everybody's life.  A hunter was lucky enough to catch the tortoise. As he started carrying the tortoise, the remaining friends cooked a plan to help their friend. The crow started cawing loud. The hunter turned to look in that direction. There he saw the beautiful deer dancing. He could not resist his eagerness to catch the deer. He let the tortoise down and took his bow and arrow to aim at the deer. The moment the hunter let the tortoise down, the rat signaled the tortoise to crawl as fast as he could and dive into the nearby pond. By the time the hunter took his aim, the deer ran away from the place. Thus, both the friends escaped ...

  There were two storks and a turtle who were friends. They shared the same pond for many years. They were living happily for a long time. The storks used to bring food for the turtle and the turtle did the same for them. But, the turtle used to boast of itself. "See dear friends, you can only fly. I can dive so deep into the pond and get rare fish for you." The pond started to dry up fast as there was a severe drought. The friends had to search for a new place to live. "Friend, we can fly off to another pond and start our new life there. What will you do?" asked the stork to the turtle. "I don't know. I cannot fly like you do. I will have to somehow manage till I die here," said the turtle with a throat full of grief. The next day, the storks flew in search of a new pond to live in and returned happily. "Friend, we have found a new pond to live in. Come with us. We shall carry you," said them to the turtle. "How can you carry me?" ...
