BEST FRIENDS - THE FRIENDSHIP STORY

         In the kingdom of Patlipura was a royal elephant. The king and the kingdom looked upon the elephant as a national symbol. The elephant was well taken care of. Each day, the servants brought delicious food for the elephant. He was taken to the river for a nice bath. People worshipped him as a deity. They believed that their day would be happy if they happened to see the elephant.




          Once, a stray puppy happened to sneak into the elephant shed. The royal elephant treated the puppy with affection. He gave a share of the royal meal. He played with the puppy. Both the royal elephant and the puppy dog had a nice time together. From then on, daily the puppy developed a habit of sneaking into the royal elephant's shed.

The royal elephant and the puppy soon became bosom friends. A village boy saw the puppy dog and was attracted by his activity. So, he took the dog to his home and started to rear him.

The royal elephant eagerly awaited the arrival of the puppy shed. Days passed no sign of the dog. The elephant started to avoid eating properly soon became sick. The king was very worried about the elephant's health. He sent for the royal veterinary doctor and asked him to treat the elephant.

The veterinary doctor tried all kinds of medicine with the elephant, but his health was not improving. The elephant still refused to eat properly. He was always sad. The king became so worried and consulted with his wise minister. The minister started enquiring with those taking care of the elephant. They all talked about the puppy who sneaked elephant's about the fun and frolic they both had together.




The minister understood the real reason behind the sickness of elephant. He sent a few soldiers to the boy's house and brought the puppy dog back to the elephant.

When the elephant saw the puppy, he jumped in happiness and soon recovered his health. People soon heard the matter and understood the power of friendship.

Moral: FRIENDSHIP MORE POWERFUL THAN MEDICINE !!!!

THE LIONS ATTENDANTS

         There was an old lion in a forest. He was so old that he could no longer hunt effectively. He could not get food by himself, He had to eat only the leftovers of the kills made by other animals. Sometimes he had to stay hungry for days together if he could not find such leftover food.  A jackal and a crow were true followers of the lion. They were happy to stay with the lion and eat what the lion gave them. They too were very sad to see their king's pathetic state.
